Importance of integrity and communication free essay sample
Integrity In the US Army Is defined as doing whats right, legally and morally. Integrity Is a quality you develop by adhering to moral principles. It requires that you do and say nothing that deceives others. As your integrity grows, so does the trust others place in you. The more choices you make based on integrity, the more this highly prized value will affect your relationships with family and friends, and, finally, the fundamental acceptance of yourself. Integrity has also been defined as Moral soundness; honesty; freedom from corrupting Influence or motive by a good friend of mine and college graduate. The dictionary describes It as Unimpaired, unadulterated, or genuine state: entire correspondence with an original condition; purity. I enjoy Heralds definition more than the official definition, however, the genuine state part of the dictionary definition is also really good. Another friend gave a similar response: morality, high standards. That is obviously a more cynical view of the ERM, which I dont totally agree with. My friends and I pretty much agree what Integrity is. Morals and honesty. Those are what make our society work. Without It, we have anarchy. Basic human decency helps us live In a basically good world. F course It Is not perfect (see: gang members, terrorists, and the likes), but those who choose to live their lives with good morals and integrity make it a better place for everybody else. The cynical view taken by my friend Tom simply cannot be used. If were all forced to comply, we would have a much safer world. Nobody forces us to do anything, and that is the point. Our arsenal Integrity can only be formed by one person: ourselves. Nobody can control out Integrity. They can try to sway It (and they do almost dally), but they cannot change it unless we allow it to be changed.Integrity is absolutely vital too community. If a community as a whole, coherent, machines does not have morals, it will be a very bad community. The people in it will not flourish, the kids will grow up bad, and It will be a continuous cycle of immorality. Is a community has no Integrity, It brings down the whole area around It. We tend to Integrity is very important on a college campus. College is a synonym for the rod freedom. You live on your own, and the only people you answer to is the school or the police. So it is up to you to make the decisions that are right for your life.Because even more so in college, where you live with your friends, are there choices to be made every single day. And they all could affect your life. Without integrity on a military bases, you have anarchy, because there are very few consequences in most situations. If there is a huge party and somebody decides he wants to do something bad, usually it is impossible to tell who did it because it is a party and there are usually a lot of things going on. Obviously, one of the biggest scenarios on a military bases is rape. The girl gets drunk enough, gets taken out and raped and the guy leaves. The only problem is that if the party is big you may have a couple hundred guys who all dress the same (sure were all unique, but we have basic styles and trends). So who is held accountable for the atrocity? Nobody. In some cases they do find the man who committed the crime, but not always. That is when personal integrity comes in. Besides the horrible aspect of rape, which unfortunately has become one of the top military horror stories across the nation, integrity also comes in when drinking.Im not saying Eve not had more than a couple drinks at a party, nor am I saying Eve never been drunk. To say that I would be a hypocrite and a liar. However, what people do not realize is that they dont have to get wasted or trashed all the time. People somehow got this idea that they had to get totally plastered or they would not be perceived as cool, and drink way too much. For lack of a better phrase, have some integrity man! I mean, you do not have to drink and go into an altered state to have fun. You can have one or two, talk to some people, and have a great time.If you absolutely need to have a few drinks to have a good time, you have problems, and need help. Now the same principal of basic integrity goes for barracks life. If youre going down the hall to the bathroom, or maybe even downstairs to get a snack, you do not always want to have to be locking and unlocking your door. In some barracks it is absolutely necessary, because flat out, people will go through your stuff and take what they want. And that makes for bad life on the base. Here, we can leave our doors unlocked and hang out in other peoples rooms if we want to, and it is a great atmosphere.
